  • Try to identify at least two strengths and two weaknesses/limitations of the article
  • Be ready to share one point with the group


Suggested Critique Checklist

1. Research Question

  • Is it clear and focused?
  • Is it relevant or significant in the field?


2. Methods

  • Was the study design appropriate for the question?
  • Was the sample size adequate and representative?
  • Were the procedures and measures reliable and valid?
  • Were any controls or comparisons used?


3. Results

  • Are the results presented clearly?
  • Do they make sense?
  • Were the right analyses used?


4. Conclusions

  • Do the conclusions follow logically from the results?
  • Do the authors avoid over-claiming?
  • Are limitations acknowledged?


5. Wider Context​

  • How generalisable are the findings?
  • What are the strengths and weaknesses overall?
  • What are the implications or applications?
